A Day On Rosbeigh

We woke up to a crisp frosty morning. Our plan was to go fishing for an hour or two. We gathered all the gear and got the bait. Mum had a new rod that she was looking forward to trying it out. It was a Conoflex flatie quiver tip. She also got a new reel.

We decided to go to Rossbeigh Beach- this is a long spit of sand , beach and dunes, about 2 km from Glenbeigh village. Accredited with the blue flag status this beach is excellent for many water sports and fishing

When we arrived there was snow on the mountain but we knew straight away there was fish there. While mom and dad were getting ready and sorting their gear out I was getting mine ready. I carried all my gear down to the edge of the water. Oisin came down next to me so I helped set him up first. After I cast his bait out I set up mine. Then Mom and Dad came down. They cast out and within five minutes they caught fish. Dad got a nice 30 cm Flounder.

Suddenly my rod rattled a little bit I brought it in and there was a small fish on it. After that I caught one a bit bigger.

Mom christened her rod with a flounder, in total she caught 5 and Dad caught 6. The best fish of the day was a 50 cm Sea Trout caught by Mom.

The day was a very good one and I enjoyed it. I have a competition there on the 14th of February and I hope it will fish just as good.
